Fires

Northeast Benton County Fire

A home and detached garage burned late Saturday afternoon near Beaver Lake. The fire was well along before firefighters were called. High wind and limited access to water made fighting the fire difficult, said Northeast Benton County Fire Chief Rob Taylor. Tankers carried water in from Arkansas 127. Four fire departments were called out to help: Avoca, Pea Ridge, Little Flock and Rogers. The structures were a total loss with damage estimated between $150,000 and $175,000, said Fire Marshal Marc Trollinger. The fire began under a back deck, but its cause is still under investigation, Trollinger said.

Rocky Branch

w An early morning fire claimed a home at 8334 Rockwood Lane on Monday. Neighbors called firefighters after hearing a window blow out, said Fire Chief Jerry Oliver. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire was in the attic. A remodel left a flat tar-covered roof under the new sloping roof and fueled the fire, Oliver said. A detached garage was saved. Oliver estimated 80 percent to 90 percent of the home’s living area was destroyed. The 1,500-square-foot home had an estimated $125,000 in damage, said Fire Marshal Marc Trollinger. Piney Point, Beaver Lake and Rocky Branch fire departments responded to the fire.
