City Seeks Input On Street Plan Changes

— A public hearing will be held Tuesday for proposed street plan amendments by the Planning Commission.

The regular meeting of the commission is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riordan Hall.

Infrastructure suggestions from the street advisory group, consisting of commissioners Daniel Ellis and Andy McCown and Alderman Jerry Snow, include extending Dartmoor Road to the west to meet Cunningham Drive and updating the signaled intersection at Dartmoor and Bella Vista Way. Ideas also include connecting Oldham Drive to the new Dartmoor Road to the south, and re-routing Oldham Drive on the north end to connect with Chelsea Road at London Road.

Planners will not recommend closing the median at Oldham Drive along Bella Vista Way, they said in a work session Oct. 31.

The group will vote on the issue at the meeting, sending a recommendation to the City Council, who will ultimately make the decision.

The group also will consider large-scale development plans for Casey’s General Store at the intersection of Bella Vista Way and Riordan Road.

Plans call for a 4,300-square-foot building with 16 gasoline pumps. A previous applicant in 2010 in that location wanted to construct a larger building — more than 5,000 square feet — and would not agree to a smaller store, which ultimately led to its rejection.
