Missouri man dies in crash on I-55

— A Missouri man was killed Saturday morning in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 55 in Blytheville, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police fatality report.

About 6:10 a.m., Gerald Johnson Jr., 75, of Caruthersville, Mo., was driving south on the interstate when his Chevrolet Equinox crossed the median and ran into the northbound lanes before striking a culvert on the shoulder.

Johnson’s vehicle overturned and he was ejected. He died at the scene.

Betty Joe Johnson, 73, of Caruthersville, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Regional Medical Center in Memphis with unspecified injuries. Her condition was not available Saturday evening.
