Association Applauds Alumni

Joanie and Jon Dyer opened their Pinnacle Country Club home on Nov. 2 for the Friends of Washington Regional Hospice 26th annual Autumn Brunch.

More than 200 attended the brunch. Door prizes for the guests were donated by local businesses that included By Request and Blakeman’s Fine Jewelry.

Dr. Stan Bradley, Washington Regional Hospice medical director, told us the organization serves families from all over Northwest Arkansas. “We want to be a place of peace for families.”

Dr. Bradleythanked those in attendance for their support of the nonprofit organization that does not turn anyone away for lack of ability to pay.

He said the patients they typically see are 40 to 65 years old with cancer, have lost their jobs (and their medical insurance) because they became too ill to go to work or were self-employed.

Upcoming events for the Washington Regional Foundation are the 20th annual Gala and Eagle Awards on April 2 and the 22nd annual Hospice Garden Party on June 8.

Those attending the brunch in support of hospice included Jeanne Cole, Carrie Eggart, Taraneh Manning, Diane Callahan, Eloise Davis, Ginger Campbell, Ann Rosso, Missy Kincaid, Terrye Brosh and Debbie Evans.

The Arkansas Alumni Association held its 68th annual Alumni Awards Celebration on Nov. 2 to laud outstanding alumni, friends of the university and faculty members.

Dave Gearhart, University of Arkansas chancellor, Sharon Gaber, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, John Reap, president of the Arkansas Alumni Association board of directors, and Graham Stewart, association executive director and vice chancellor for alumni affairs, presented the awards at the event held at the Janelle Y.

Hembree Alumni House in Fayetteville.
