Rucker’s 6 TDs boost Curley Wolves

— Prescott quarterback Trevor Rucker accounted for six of the Curley Wolves’ eight touchdown in a 52-16 rout of Episcopal Collegiate in Class 3A playoff action Friday night.

Rucker, a 5-8 senior, completed 16 of 23 passes for 202 yards and 4 touchdowns and rushed for 82 yards and 2 scores, all in the first half, as the Wolves (9-2) built a 52-0 halftime lead.

“He showed up to play tonight,” Prescott Coach Tommy Poole said. “He’s just a winner. We needed him to play well.”

It wasn’t Rucker, though, who jump-started the rout.

After the Wolves held Episcopal Collegiate (4-7) to a three-and-out to start the game, Prescott’s Brandon Marks fielded a punt on the hop at his 30, went to his left and ran untouched to the end zone for a 6-0 lead.

After another Wildcats three-and-out, Rucker went to work.

Facing third-and-3 at his 44, Rucker kept the ball and raced around right end for a 13-0 lead with 7:05 left in the first quarter. He went around left end for a 37-yard scoring run and a 19-0 lead on the next possession.

Then Rucker struck through the air. He had touchdown passes of 3 yards to Donald Lollis, 12 yards to Marks, 10 yards to Marks and 20 yards to Lavarious Martin. Marks also scored on a 1-yard run.

Episcopal Collegiate quarterback William Pollock, who was 23 of 40 for 202 yards with 2 interceptions, hit Trenton DeLoach for a couple of touchdown passes in the second half as the Wildcats completed their season.
