JBU Presents ‘Picturing Parable’
The John Brown University Art Gallery is hosting “Picturing the Parable,” a traveling exhibit from Christians in Visual Arts.
The collection of artwork by 20 artists restates the stories of Christ from new and unique perspectives - some using time-honored materials while others work in nontraditional media. The exhibit will run through Dec.
11 in the Windgate Visual Arts West building. It is free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday by special arrangement. For further information, contact Jeannie Abbott at 238-8561.
Catholic Deacons To Be Ordained
Bishop Anthony Taylor of the Diocese of Little Rock will ordain 18 men as permanent deacons at St.
Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, 1416 W.
Poplar St., at 10 a.m. Nov. 17.
About 40 men will receive this sacrament this month in Arkansas.
In August 2008 more than 50 men entered the diocesan deaconate class.
For four years the candidates and their wives studied a variety of subjects including scripture, catechism, church history, canon law, counseling and homiletics.
