BENTONVILLE — Bentonville and Fayetteville have been named as a 2012 Volunteer Community of the Year.
Other communities named on Friday include Benton, Blytheville, Clarksville, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Maumelle, Mountain Home, Norfolk, Van Buren and Warren, according to a news release.
Communities chosen will receive signs from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department designating their city as a “Volunteer Community of the Year.” The Division of Volunteerism and the Arkansas Municipal League will present the awards at a luncheon on Jan. 17 during the league’s winter conference.
The award is co-sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support, the Arkansas Municipal League and the Office of the Governor, the release stated.
