— VOLLEYBALL Arkansas-Fort Smith rolls on

Heidi Luks had 17 kills, 14 digs and 2 blocks to help Arkansas-Fort Smith to a 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 victory over McMurry on Thursday in Abilene, Texas. UAFS (25-2) got 22 assists from Whitney Hale and 16 from Stephanie Brock. Emily McCollum had 14 digs.

Golden Suns down Muleriders

Brittany Ryan had 12 kills to help Arkansas Tech (25-9, 11-3 Great American Conference) to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 victory over Southern Arkansas (22-10, 11-3) Thursday night at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.

Kaitlyn White added 11 kills, while Sara Motsinger had nine kills and three blocks for the Golden Suns.

Bisons sweep Blossoms

Bailee Graham and Mollie Arnold each had 11 kills to lead Harding to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday in Searcy.

Amber Shinzing had 35 assists and Harding (25-6, 14-0 Great American Conference) had a .413 hitting percentage.

Christina Rini led UAM (11-23, 4-10) with eight kills.

OBU tops Henderson State

Abby Pickett had 13 kills, Megan Askew had 10 and Ouachita Baptist (10-16, 7-7 Great American Conference) swept rival Henderson State (7-23, 2-12) 25-23, 25-19, 27-25 on Thursday at OBU.

Savannah White had 23 assists for the Lady Tigers, and Sara Mitchell added 17 in a match that was tied 24 times and the lead changed 12 times.

Sugar Bears sweep Demons

Jessica Hays had 17 kills and Jessica Nagy had nine to help Central Arkansas to a 25-20, 29-27, 25-21 sweep of Northwestern (La.) State on Thursday in Conway.

Hays added three digs and two blocks while Scout Brooks had eight kills and six digs for the Sugar Bears (26-4, 14-3 Southland Conference), who complete their league schedule against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.

Mackenzie Neely led Northwestern State (20-9, 12-5) with 11 kills.

BASKETBALL Bailey named interim coach

Kaci Bailey was named interim women’s coach at Henderson State on Thursday, filling in for Chris Oestrich, who resigned after one season.

The Lady Reddies, who open the season Saturday at Arkansas-Fort Smith, finished 14-13 overall and 7-9 in the Great American Conference under Oestrich last season.

No reason for Oestrich resigning was given in a release from the school announcing Bailey’s appointment.
