Man Accused Of Break-Ins

— Police arrested Steven Tyler Hedgecorth, 21, of 9062 County Lane in Webb City, Mo., Wednesday in connection with the breaking or entering of several vehicles.

A manager at the Dixie Cafe called police Tuesday night after he saw a man take things from an employee’s vehicle and drive away, according to a probable cause affidavit. The manager followed the man’s gold Honda Accord until police arrived.

Officers saw a red cellphone case in the glovebox and a light blue purse in the backseat, both reported missing by Camille Harpole, the Dixie Cafe employee. A search warrant was issued and Hedgecorth arrested.

Hedgecorth told police he took the items from Harpole’s car and was looking for money because he lost his job.

Police have linked Hedgecorth to four other incidents where items were taken from unlocked vehicles starting Oct. 27, including Oct. 27 incidents at Red Lobster, 1710 S. 46th St., in which credit cards and change were taken from cars; an Oct. 28 incident at Malco Theatres, 2203 S. Promenade Blvd.; and a Nov. 3 incident at Outback Steak House, 4509 W. Poplar St., in which a debit card and $100 were taken.

Hedgecorth was being held Thursday in Benton County Jail in connection with five felony counts of breaking or entering, two felony and two misdemeanor counts of theft and misdemeanor fraudulent use of a credit card. Bond was set at $15,000.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible, said Keith Foster, public information officer for Rogers police.
