Deputies: Brothers Injured In Fight

— Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a pair of Winslow brothers after they pounded on each other with a metal pipe.

Billy Shepherd, 51, of 20918 Sunset Road in Winslow was arrested Tuesday in connection with felony aggravated assault on a household member and second-degree domestic battery.

Ray Shepherd, 61, of the same address, was arrested in connection with felony terroristic threatening and third-degree domestic battery.

A woman called police just before 5 p.m. Tuesday and said her sons were fighting and one was injured, according to an arrest report.

Deputies arrived at 6:47 p.m. and Billy Shepherd told them he was on his tractor when his older brother, Ray Shepherd, came at him with a “wood tire knocker” and told him “not to mow over the well.”

Billy Shepherd got off the tractor and grabbed a metal pipe from the back of his brother’s truck. He hit Ray Shepherd with the pipe and the two rolled to the ground fighting over the pipe. Ray Shepherd grabbed it and beat his brother on the head and arm.

Billy Shepherd climbed back on the tractor and tried to run over Ray.

Ray Shepherd threatened to get his gun and shoot his brother.

Billy Shepherd had a 3-inch gash on his head.

Ray Shepherd was in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond Wednesday. Billy Shepherd was being held without bond.
