Circle of Life Hospice will offer its annual Coping with the Holidays Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at 901 Jones Road in Springdale.

Holidays and special occasions can be especially difficult for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.

The holiday season is one of joy, celebration, anticipation and time with family.

When someone is “missing,” the struggle to manage grief can be intensified.

The workshop will explore information about grief in addition to suggestions and tips for coping through the season.

Religious founders

seminar planned

The Al-Islam Students Association at the University of Arkansas will host a seminar on the founders of three world religions at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The event will be in the Multicultural Center, room 404 of the Arkansas Union.

The event was planned in response to the recent outbreak of violence in many Muslim countries to the negative portrayal of the prophet Muhammad in a homegrown video, said faculty advisor Hameed Naseem. The students association wants to show that many Muslims embrace a pathway of peace.

The event will feature Imam Shamshad Nasir, Rabbi Jacob Adler and the Rev.

Omar Rikabi, who will speak about Muhammad, Jesus and Moses, respectively.

The presentation will highlight the need for offering them due respect and deference while upholding freedom of speech, Naseem said.

Middle Eastern snacks and a Q&A session will follow the presentation.
