BASEBALL

w Fayetteville Vipers (11AAA) are looking to add two players for the upcoming fall and spring season. For more information and if interested in a tryout, call Jeff Brockinton at 263-6473 or email [email protected].

w The War Eagle Baseball Training Camp will be held seven Sundays beginning Nov. 18 and running through January to give baseball training to youngsters from kindgarten through eighth grade, which attend a school that feeds into Rogers Heritage. Others who attend private school but live within the Heritage boundaries are also eligible to attend. The training will be held inside the Heritage Indoor athletic facility. Cost is $100 for one participant and $50 for each additional child. The cost is $125 for campers registering after Nov. 13. Any questions contact Keith Kilgore at [email protected].

BASKETBALL

w Lowell First Baptist Church and Rogers 1st Church of the Nazarene will offer Upward Basketball/Cheerleading to all of the youth of NWA. The programs are open to boys and girls ages 5 through 6th grade. The cost is $75. Online registration at www.fbc-lowell.com or at either of the churches. w First Baptist Church Centerton is offering Upward Basketball with Cheerleading to Northwest Arkansas kids in grades K-6. Early registration cost for basketball or cheerleading is $65; after Dec, 1 the cost is $80. Registration ends Dec. 19. w Registration for the Rogers Community-School Recreation Association youth basketball program is currently being taken at the Rogers Activity Center and online at www.rogersarkansas.com/recreation. Programs are open to boys and girls grades K-12.

New this season is an advanced league for middle school divisions (if registration numbers support). The program will offer varsity/junior varsity teams which will compete at different levels with practices being tailored by district coaches according to level of play. Varsity teams will play some league games during the week, allowing them to register for local tournaments during weekends. RAC will host an open tournament monthly. Separate team fees may apply to register for tournaments.

League fees are: Grades K-1 Lil' Hoopsters Instructional Class, $40. Registration will be taken through Dec. 28 and the class begins Jan. 5; Grades 2-5 Youth recreational league, $50. Registration will be taken through Nov. 9; Grades 6-8 Middle school league, $50. Registration will be taken through Oct. 2; Grade 9-12 3-on-3 High School Basketball League, $50. Registration will be taken through Dec. 3. Players sign up individually and form their own teams. If you are interested in playing, but don't have a team contact, the league director.

GOLF

w Prairie Creek Country Club will host a two-person scramble Saturday, Nov. 10.  This event is open to anyone. The tournament will be an 18-hole flighted  event.  Practice rounds are available.  The entry fee is $80 per team.  For more information call Don Rountree at 925-2414. 

RUNNING

w Fourth annual Rebuilding Together Halloween 5K and kids 1K is Saturday at the JBU Building in Rogers. The 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. and 1K at 10:15 a.m. Costumes are encouraged. Registration information at www.rebuildingtogethernwa.org.

SOFTBALL

w Girls 8U softball team now organizing and holding fall workouts for 2013 season for girls born after Jan. 1, 2004. Team will play approximately five weekend tournaments in region from mid-March to June. Call 462-4799 for more information.

w 12U fast-pitch team based in Washington County is looking for a few more players. Team will play 10 tournaments which includes state tournament and World Series. Call 616-8588 to schedule a tryout.
