Officials will have to hand count some ballots

A calibration error on a ballot on demand printer at the Benton County election office will leave officials hand counting a number of ballots.

"Most of them can be counted (by machine)," said John Brown, chairman of the Benton County election commission.

Some of the ballots did not get a corner tip sliced off and those will be hand counted.

At midnight officials estimated they will finish counting absentee ballots soon. Paper ballots from Tuesday's polling places will follow.

One polling place in Pea Ridge had still not turned in its polling equipment by midnight. Staffers attempted to call poll workers, but got no answer.
