Iberiabank to hire

10 from LR lender

Iberiabank Mortgage Co. expects to hire 10 former lenders with Little Rock-based Cornerstone Mortgage Center, which has closed, the subsidiary of Iberiabank said Tuesday.

Iberiabank Mortgage already has hired Michael Powell, founder and president of Cornerstone since 1999, and six other Cornerstone employees and expects to hire three more, said Chuck Quick, president of Iberiabank Mortgage. Cornerstone had 14 employees, Quick said.

Iberiabank Mortgage did not purchase Cornerstone, he said.

New regulatory and compliance regulations have made it difficult for smaller mortgage lenders such as Cornerstone to remain profitable, Quick said.

Cornerstone had offices in Northwest Arkansas and northeast Arkansas, Quick said. The only Cornerstone location that Iberiabank Mortgage will retain is at 300 S. Shackleford Road in Little Rock, he said.
