At 10:30 p.m., waiting to vote in Pea Ridge

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

— At 10:30 p.m. there were still about 100 people waiting to cast their votes in the community room of the Pea Ridge Emergency Services Building.

The line wound back and forth across the room, but at least everyone was now inside. Earlier in the evening, the line had stretched out to the highway and as dark fell, the temperatures dropped. City officials opened the bays of the Fire Department, fire trucks were moved out and the hundreds of would-be voters were moved inside.

The doors were closed at 7:30 p.m., but all who had registered with the election officials were allowed to vote.

None of the paper ballots cast (121), nor the four electronic voting machines at the Pea Ridge voting precinct had been turned into the Election Commission as of 11 p.m. Tuesday. The 10 election workers finished counting their books and cleaning their areas and waited for the voters to take their turns at the machines.
