Woman accuses Jermain Taylor of sexual assault

Maumelle police are investigating a woman's claim that she was sexually assaulted by Arkansas boxing champion Jermain Taylor.

According to a release, officers responded around 9:30 p.m. Friday to a disturbance call at America's Best Value hotel in Maumelle. The release says a woman told officers she fell down stairs after fleeing from an argument with Taylor. The woman sustained an ankle injury in the altercation.

She told officers she was visiting Taylor with the purpose of having sex in exchange for money, the report says.

The woman, whose identity will not be released, also told hospital officials that Taylor sexually assaulted her. Following an investigation, the woman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities are still investigating the allegations made against Taylor.
