Buffalo National River Partners will continue the series “Storytellers in the Park: Tales from the Buffalo” with a program on pioneer skills in the Ozarks at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Steel Creek between Ponca and Jasper.

“From Tools to Furniture to Musical Instruments” will focus on items early settlers along the Buffalo had to make by hand. Joe Doster, a master woodworker and instructor at North Arkansas College in Harrison, will demonstrate how furniture, farming tools and even some instruments were made by settlers.

Local musician Brent Crow will provide music for the event. Guests should bring their own lawn chairs.

The Fort Smith Museum of History will host a patriotic crafts program in honor of Independence Day from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday. The program is free and open to children 12 and younger and their parents.

Children will make a craft to take home with them. Refreshments will be provided.
