NW Arkansas achievers

— Mary F. Dillard of Farmington has been named to the AARP National Policy Council, the group announced. Dillard will serve a two-year term.

The National Policy Council is a 25-person volunteer body that provides policy analysis for the AARP board of directors. Dillard and the other 24 members are asked to ensure public policies reflect the interests and concerns of AARP members.

Dillard is the former president of AARP Arkansas.

Ryan Smith of Springdale has been selected as the Arkansas student representative for the 220th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church. The General Assembly will be held June 30-July 7 in Pittsburgh.

Smith, an English major at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, will meet with other youth delegates and take in presentations and votes on a variety of subjects pertaining to American Presbyterianism.

Smith’s father, J. Stewart Smith, is the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Springdale.

Chase Pearrow of Fayetteville was named 2012 District Eight Adjuster of the Year during the 59th annual Farm Bureau Claims Conference in Hot Springs.

The award is given to an adjuster in each of Arkansas’ nine claims districts. Awards are based on proficiency, leadership, professionalism and dedication.

Gloria Flores Passmore, associate director of recruitment and sponsored studentprograms at the University of Arkansas, was recognized by the Institute of International Education for her work furthering the partnership between the Fulbright Program and the university.

Passmore helped develop the University of Arkansas Fulbright Scholars Association and serves as co-adviser for the group.

Neil Carey of Simmons Foods in Siloam Springs has been elected chairman of the U.S.A. Poultry & Egg Export Council’s marketing committee. Carey will also serve on the group’s board of directors and hold a seat on the council’s executive committee.

Walter B. Cox of Cox & Estes PLLC in Fayetteville received the Outstanding Lawyer Award from the Arkansas Bar Association, the group announced. Cox was recognized for excellence in the practice of law and for his contributions to the law profession.

E. Lamar Pettus of Fayetteville won the Golden Gavel Award for his work as chair of the Bar Association’s governance committee.

Northwest Arkansas Achievers is an opportunity to give recognition to those for their achievements.
