— Former talk-show host Regis Philbin received a fond farewell at the 39th annual Daytime Emmys on Saturday as his old show, Live with Regis and Kelly, was saluted as best entertainment talk show (its first-ever nod in that category) and for best talk-show hosts. Philbin ended his long run as its co-host last November, with a replacement yet to be named to join Kelly Ripa as the syndicated series continues. General Hospital led all shows in award count, with five trophies, including best drama. NBC’s Today show won as best morning show, and the syndicated Jeopardy! was named best game show. Heather Tom won as best lead actress for The Bold and the Beautiful, and Anthony Geary won as lead actor for General Hospital. Supporting actress and actor in a drama series awards went to Nancy Lee Grahn and Jonathan Jackson, both of General Hospital. Chandler Massey of Days of Our Lives won best young actor, and Christen Khalil of The Young and the Restless received the award for best young actress. Last Shot with Judge Gunn, starring Judge Mary Ann Gunn, who presided over the Washington-Madison County Drug Court from 1999 until 2011, won the Daytime Emmy for best legal/courtroom program. Dr. Oz was named best informative talk show.Bill Geddie, longtime associate of Barbara Walters and executive producer of her ABC talk show The View, received the life achievement award. Kevin Clash, who plays Elmo on Sesame Street, was named best performer in a children’s program. Penguins of Madagascar won for best animated children’s program. Bobby Flay’s Barbecue Addiction was named best culinary program.

One of the stars of the TV reality show Swamp People has been arrested in Florida on domestic violence charges. Noces Joseph La-Font Jr. - who is known as“Trapper Joe” on TV - was arrested Wednesday by Orange County sheriff’s deputies. According to an arrest affidavit, LaFont was arguing with his girlfriend while staying at a hotel near Disney World and tried to burn her with a lit cigarette. The report also says he punched the woman with a closed fist. LaFont, who is from Louisiana, was charged with battery and assault. He was booked into the Orange County jail, posted bail and was released. It’s unclear whether he has retained an attorney. Swamp People is a History channel show that follows Cajuns who hunt alligators.
