Bella Vista Council To Discuss Rezoning

— The City Council will consider a recommendation from the Planning Commission to rezone 6.2 acres on Oldham Drive from residential to commercial at tonight’s meeting.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in McKay Hall at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The location was changed from the Highlands Crossing Center television studio to the church because the council anticipates a larger-than-normal audience.

The Planning Commission recommended June 11 the council approve a request by landowner Betty Garcia to rezone 6.2 acres off Oldham Drive near its intersection with Bella Vista Way. Garcia also owns an adjacent lot, which is already zoned for commercial use.

She is under contract with Walmart to sell the land for a proposed Neighborhood Market.

The council also will consider:

  • Amendments to the city’s sign ordinance.
  • An ordinance to consolidate parking ordinances.
  • An ordinance requiring the use of a collection service for the removal of solid waste.
  • A contract for engineering services with the city’s engineers, Crafton, Tull and Associates.
  • Awarding a contract for street striping services.
  • A request to hire one additional person for the support staff at City Hall.
