— Cena pins 300 wishes for charity

John Cena’s signature phrase is “You can’t see me.”

But when it comes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the pro wrestling superstar makes sure he’s seen.

Cena, who recently granted his 300th wish, is the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s runaway favorite. He is far and away tops among sports celebrities.

How popular is Cena with Make-A-Wish? There’s a conference room dedicated to him at the company headquarters in Arizona.

“Overall, I get 100-140 WWE wish requests a year,” said Shaina Reeser, sports program manager at Make-A-Wish, “and the majority is for John Cena. He probably does two or three kids every week. It’s crazy.”

Only a few other sports figures have granted more than 200 wishes, including Hulk Hogan, JeffGordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Michael Jordan is in the 200 neighborhood and Kobe Bryant has granted more than 100. Cena fully intends on getting to 1,000.

Even though his schedule is tougher than most - there are no home games and there’s no offseason - he unfailingly builds in time for Make-A-Wish kids.

And while some stars do a simple meet-and-greet, Cena turns the wish into an experience. He usually invites the child toMonday Night Raw, where he takes the entire family backstage, gives them all signed memorabilia and introduces them to other WWE stars.

“He has been a big supporter of us forever,” said Make-AWish national communications manager Mark Hiegel. “By this time next year, he’ll have 400.” Leave happy

The Miami Heat partied until 6 a.m. at the Fountainebleau Hotelafter their championship victory earlier this week.

Wrote Janice Hough of leftcoastsportsbabe.com: “No wonder Miami was so set on winning at home. Only place open until 6 a.m. in Oklahoma City probably is an IHOP.”

Housing problem?

South Carolina and Arizona have been staying at the same hotel during the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

That wasn’t a problem when the teams were playing in opposite brackets. Now they’re matched in the best-of-3 final.

“The Hilton Hotel Battle Royale. That’s the name for it,” South Carolina pitcher Michael Roth said. “We’ve been seeing these guys all week. We have tons of respect for each other.

The worst part is that someone is going to be celebrating and someone is going to have to hear it.

“That’s probably the only downside. And there is no free breakfast.”

Arizona right fielder Robert Refsnyder said hotel employees are being put into an awkward position.

“They’re going to have to pick their sides, I guess,” he said.

Quote of the day “We’ve got a pretty good

team, but we’re not the ’27 [New York] Yankees.

We’ve had 28 one-run

games. We know that every at-bat is crucial for us.” South Carolina Coach Ray Tanner, whose baseball team is playing Arizona for its third consecutive College World Series championship
