Free Summer Meals Offered

More than 45,000 children in Northwest Arkansas rely on free or reduced-price school meals for nine months out of the year. That makes these children highly vulnerable to food insecurity - not getting enough to eat - during the summer months when school is not in session.

In an effort to combat this issue, the U.S.

Department of Agriculture and the Arkansas Department of Human Services, is offering a Summer Food Service Program, which offers free, nutritious meals and snacks available to children and teens younger than 18 during the summer months.

There’s no identification or registration required and many sites also offer recreation and educational activities in addition to the meals.

To find a safe, supervised summer feeding site near you, call 888-4KIDAR or text the word FoodAR to 877877.

You also can access an interactive map of summer meals by going to NoKidHungry.org/ Arkansas.
