Wigs Provide Boost for Patients
Women dealing with cancer often feel like they are out of control in many aspects of their lives. “Not only do they have this cancer going on in their body, but then their hair starts falling out. It’s one more thing they don’t have any control over,” said Susan Neyman, manager of the Washington Regional Cancer Support Home. “Your hairstyle is a big piece of your identity, so being able to select a wig often gives them a sense of, ‘OK, I can go on with this,’ because it gives them some sense of control.”
The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G will team up with Pantene Beautiful Lengths once more to host a cutting event Wednesday to collect hair to be made into wigs for women with cancer.
Organizers are looking for volunteers to donate hair and area stylists to assist with the effort.
