Horses for Healing’s annual barn dance June 9 reined in about $150,000 and celebrated the organization’s 20th anniversary.

The money raised will go toward scholarships and to care for the horses, said Debbie Studyvin, operations director at Horses for Healing.

The nonprofit organization works to provide therapeutic riding programs for physically, emotionally and mentally challenged residents in Northwest Arkansas, according to a Horses for Healing news release.

The organization served more than 365 children in 2011.

Horses for Healing founder Harriette Habern was the Honorary Cowgirl.

The evening featured a barbecue dinner, Sponsor a Pony event, Sponsor a Child event and a silent auction.

The auction drew in about$16,000, Studyvin said.

During the evening, guests could also pose for a buttsketch, facing their back toward the artist for the drawing.

Music at the barn dance was provided by Jamie Wolfe and the Wranglers.
