Golden Suns name coach

Arkansas Tech named Kristina McSweeney its softball coach Friday.

McSweeney spent the past four seasons at Seminole State College, a junior college in Sanford, Fla. McSweeney led the Trojans to top-five finishes in the NJCAA national tournament in 2009 and 2010 and was 174-66 from 2009-2012. The Trojans were 44-13 and finished second in the NJCAA Region II Tournament this past season.

“We are very excited that Kristina has decided to join our athletic family at Arkansas Tech,” Athletic Director Steve Mullins said in a release. “She has had tremendous success building a winning program at Seminole State and we know she can achieve the same success here.”

McSweeney, a Miami native, replaces Gidget Pambianchi, who was 189-174 in seven seasons before being fired in March.
