RELIGION NOTES

The music group ELATION will appear in concert at Bella Vista Christian Church at 7 p.m. today. The musical drama of the life of Christ will be brought to life in “Godspell.”

The touring group is composed of youth ranging in age from 12 to 18. They are from St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas. They have shared “Godspell” with more than 125 congregations in 30 states and Canada through the past 12 years.

The musical presentation is free.

Christmas in June is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Christian Community Worship Center in West Fork, 13938 S. Arkansas 265, next door to the Hogeye Mall.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224N. East Ave., will start a new “Living the Questions” series at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The DVD series features 30 acclaimed scholars and theologians exploring openminded Christianity. Speakers include Marcus Borg, Walter Brueggemann, Yvette Flunder, Matthew Fox, Brian McLaren, Sister Helen Prejean and Hans Kung.

The 20-minute DVD will be followed by conversation.

The series will continue for seven weeks. Topics are: 1. An Invitation to Journey, 2. Taking the Bible Seriously, 3. Thinking Theologically, 4. Stories of Creation, 5. Lives of Jesus, 6.

A Passion for Christ: Paul, 7.

Out into the World: Challenges Facing Progressive Christians.

United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, will begin its 8:15 and10:30 a.m. July 1 worship services around the flag pole with the Pledge of Allegiance. Sandy O’Neil will sing the national anthem. The congregation will process into the sanctuary singing “America The Beautiful” and “My Country ’Tis of Thee.” Pastor Darrel Johnson will lead the patriotic service.

Freedom Fest 2012 will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday on the grounds of Pea Ridge Assembly of God Church and New Life Fellowship in Pea Ridge on Weston Street.

Free food, entertainment, car show, inflatables will be available. A free firework show will begin at dusk. Prizes, including a drawing for a large collection of fireworks, will begiven away.

Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.

All proceeds from Freedom Fest will assist Ron and Rosey Booth, assistant pastors at Pea Ridge Assembly of God, with their medical bills.
