Beebe to meet French officials on trip

— Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe is heading to France for an agricultural and economic-development trip.

Beebe leaves for the trip on Saturday and is due back in Arkansas on June 29.

He’s expected to meet with French companies that do business in Arkansas. He’s also slated to meet with government officials and farmers as he tours part of the country.

The French government is footing the bill for Beebe’s trip.

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission had budgeted $25,000 in state funds will for airfare, hotel, transportation and meals for other members of the delegation traveling to France.

More than $5,000 in private foundation funds is set aside to cover the first lady’s airfare and other costs.
