Rogers Optimist Slips Past Kerwins

— Zac Stewart’s run-scoring single in the top of the 10th inning lifted Rogers past Fort Smith Kerwins in Zone I American Legion baseball Tuesday.

Reed Brown pitched a scoreless bottom of the 10th to earn the win, which was the seventh in a row for Rogers (11-3, 1-1 Zone I). He pitched two innings, allowed no runs on one hit. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.

Rogers led early 8-2 after two innings, but Kerwins rallied to tie the game 9-9 after five innings and even led 12-10. But Rogers scored a run in the top of the ninth to force extra innings.

Stewart led an 18-hit attack for Rogers, going 3-for-5 including a solo home run. He also drove in two runs and scored three times.

Tristan Kehanek also added three hits and drove in three runs for Rogers. Five other Rogers players had two hits apiece.

Bentonville Nunnally Chevrolet 10, Fayetteville Lindsey 5

Andrew Hagel allowed one run over six innings and added two hits and two RBIs to lead Bentonville Nunnally Chevrolet past Fayetteville Lindsey & Associates on Tuesday.

Bentonville (9-4, 2-1 Zone 1) led 9-1 before Fayetteville (14-7, 2-2) scored four times in the eighth.

Will Jibes finished with three hits and drove in three to lead the Bentonville offense. Trenton Hill and Chad Musteen added two hits apiece. Hill also drove in two runs. Kyler Offenbacker drove in two runs for Lindsey.
