Man Pointing Gun Arrested

— A man was arrested Wednesday after pointing a gun during an apparent road rage incident.

A driver called police to report a man was honking and yelling at him, according to a police news release. Both drivers stopped their vehicles near the intersection of Holcomb Street and Sunset Avenue.

Lawrence Schultz, 72, of 512B Black Oak Ave., walked to the victim’s vehicle pointing a gun, according to police. Schultz stuck the gun inside the car and the victim pushed it away, according to police.

Schultz walked back to his pickup and left. The victim gave the vehicle license number to police, who arrested Schultz, the registered owner of the pickup, at his home. A Taurus .45-caliber handgun, loaded with hollow-point bullets, was found in Schultz’s pocket, according to police.

Schultz was arrested in connection with felony aggravated assault. He was scheduled to be moved Wednesday evening to the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville to await a bond hearing.
