Circuit Judge William Storey has declared a mistrial in the rape and robbery trial of Arjel Gold of Springdale.
A Washington County jury deadlocked on two felony counts of rape and one count of robbery in the trial.
Storey earlier asked the jury to continue deliberating, but the jury’s foreman earlier told the judge he didn't believe the jury could reach verdicts.
Gold was charged in an Oct. 9 incident in which a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her between two duplexes on Adrian Avenue in Springdale. Gold, however, said sexual contact between the two was consensual.
