June sales tax down in Bentonville, up elsewhere

Sales tax numbers increased in Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale and decreased in Bentonville for June.

Fayetteville and Rogers increased by 8.6 and 8.5 percent. Both cities had sales tax revenues exceeding the $1 million mark. Lowell saw a 7.6 percent increase, reaching $235,139 in revenue.

Tax revenued increased by 1.8 percent in Springdale.

Bentonville saw a 4.5 percent decrease.

Siloam Springs and Bella Vista saw small increases.

Sales tax revenue reported in June reflects April tax collected in May. Comparisons are based on collections from the same month in the previous year.

Each city, with the exception of Bella Vista, collects a 2 percent sales tax. One percent is devoted to repayment of bonds. The other 1 percent goes into each city’s general fund and is available for operations. For the purpose of this report, Northwest Arkansas Newspapers tracks the 1 percent going into the general funds.
