Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Sexual Assault

— A Rogers man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl.

Donald Eugene Dalton, 44, pleaded guilty Monday to sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B felony punishable with a prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years. The plea came under an agreement Scott McElveen, deputy public defender, reached with Bonnie Bridges, deputy prosecutor.

Dalton was arrested March 8 after the Rogers Police Department received an Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline report in reference to a girl being abused. Dalton was identified as the offender, according to court documents.

The girl, when interviewed, reported Dalton had touched her inappropriately, according to court documents.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Dalton’s guilty plea.

Dalton was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He must abide by a 10-year suspended sentence agreement after his release.

He was ordered to complete the prison’s sex offender treatment program or be assessed at Ozark Guidance after his release from prison. Dalton also was ordered not to have any contact with the victim.

Dalton must pay $2,120 in court costs and will be required to register as sex offender.
