Rain garden class set for educators

The Illinois River Watershed Partnership and the Beaver Water District will host a rain garden academy for educators from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at Holt Middle School in Fayetteville. Teachers can earn up to six professional development hours for attending the class.

Educators will receive hands-on training focused on water quality management through rain gardens. Topics will include watershed information, rain garden installation and management, classroom teaching strategies, native plants, water conservation strategies, rain garden design, and rain garden mini-grant possibilities.

The registration deadline for the workshop is Wednesday; cost is $25 to attend. More information is available by calling (479) 215-6623 or online at irwp.org.
