— The former head of security at Concordia Retirement Center was arrested Tuesday in connection with stealing prescription medications from a resident’s room.

Kirk Driscoll, 27, of 2 Latshaw Lane was charged with felony residential burglary and misdemeanor theft of property.

A warrant for Driscoll’s arrest was issued June 22 after police confirmed his identity from video surveillance footage provided by Jeff Tonack, Concordia’s executive director.

Tonack contacted Bella Vista police May 12 and said the center’s security video showed someone entering a person’s room on multiple occasions, Capt. Tim Cook said.

A large amount of narcotic medication was reported stolen from the room.

Based on the footage, police identified the man as Driscoll. He was filmed entering the room in one-week increments.

The day after the report was made and before police knew the identity of the thief, police were told Driscoll was on Concordia property but no longer worked there. Driscoll told police he was visiting a friend, Cook said. He was given a trespassing warning.

Once police confirmed the identity of the man on the tape, they made several attempts to contact Driscoll’s residence on Rutland Road in Bentonville. Police were told Tuesday that Driscoll no longer lived there and moved to Bella Vista.

Cook said Driscoll denied all allegations and asked for a lawyer when shown the video.

Tonack said Driscoll worked for Concordia security since 2007 and was head of security from November 2011 to January when his employment ended.

In another incident, police received a report Monday of a man trying to get into apartments at The Plaza at Highlands Crossing by claiming he was part of the maintenance department and checking for water leaks. The Plaza is a housing facility for people 55 and older.

One person reported the theft of prescription drugs from an apartment, Cook said.

“He (Driscoll) is a person of interest based on the descriptions the victims have given and since the crime he was arrested for is similar in nature,” Cook said.

The incident remains under investigation.

Driscoll is being held in the Benton County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
