Tuesday, July 10, 2012

— The NorthWest Arkansas Community College Board of Trustees has begun the search process for a new president, and will host several discussion groups this week to help define the future of the college as well as qualities that they should seek in the next president.

A community stakeholder meeting is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday in the third floor Board Room of Burns Hall in Bentonville. Individuals planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Miranda Smith by emailing [email protected] or calling 479-619-4191, according to a college news release.

The board of trustees started its search process after Becky Paneitz, college president since 2003, announced in April she plans to retire in June 2013. Alex Vasquez, board chairman, is finalizing the appointment of the Presidential Search Committee, which will assist in narrowing candidates. Trustee Randy Lawson has been named chairman of the search group, the release stated.

Lawson said the NorthWest Arkansas Community College Foundation is engaging the services of the Association of Community College Trustees to assist the college in the presidential search.

“We look forward to working with all of our stakeholders as we move forward in our search to identify candidates who will most effectively meet the future needs of NWACC and the communities the College serves,” Lawson stated in the release.

Other stakeholder meetings scheduled include:

All of the stakeholder meetings will be held in the third floor Board Room. More than one trustee will attend the 11 a.m. Friday luncheon and the 12:30 p.m. Friday stakeholder meeting, making both sessions public board meetings, the release stated.
