J.B. Hunt reports record earnings

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. announced today fourth quarter 2011 net earnings of $72.6 million, or diluted earnings per share of 61 cents. This beats fourth quarter 2010 net earnings of $57.9 million, or 46 cents per diluted share.

The transportation and logistics company is coming off three consecutive record-setting revenue and earnings quarters.

“We are very pleased to close out the year with record revenues, net earnings and earnings per share in both the fourth quarter and the entire year of 2011,” John N. Roberts, J.B. Hunt president and chief executive officer said in the release.

Total operating revenue for the fourth quarter was $1.2 billion, compared with $1.02 billion for the fourth quarter 2010. Operating income for the quarter increased to $122 million compared to $97 million for the fourth quarter 2010.
