Council OKs Restrooms

$253,000 FACILITIES WILL BE USED FOR RAZORBACK GREENWAY, SQUARE

Posted: January 25, 2012 at 5:34 a.m.

Eric Winnett, right, watches as Taylor Tompkins, both of Willow Creek Renewable Energy, tightens bolts Tuesday while assembling blades for a wind turbine at the corner of East Johnson Avenue and North Mill Street in downtown Springdale. The 70-foot turbine is one to two in the city as a result of a $657,100 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy which Springdale received in 2009. The turbine can produce energy in wind up to 60 mph and is designed to withstand wind up to 120 mph.

Shiloh Square will have new restrooms to serve the Razorback Greenway.

AT A GLANCE

As if Christie knows thr first thing about construction and Wyman Morgan calling the shot's on money. Wasn't he the one who spent over $750,000 on a failed computer program that he knew wouldn't work and kept paying the payment's anyway, I agree with Reed 10,000 a pot is criminal. Springdale tax payer's wake up and do something about this when you vote.

$253,000 for bathrooms? Are you kidding me? Those in our city government need a reality check. Hats off to councilman Reed although it sounds as if he was chastised for pointing out this fact.

"We can't afford to build an ugly bathroom". What a joke. I laughted so hard at that statement, I almost wet my pants. No pun intended. These bathrooms are to be open 24 hours a day. Who is going to keep the preverts out of them? You got security cameras outside, what difference does that make? If I gotta go to the bathroom, I don't care if it is pretty or not, just clean. People, this is your wakeup call. Time to put a stop to the insanity. Remember this at election time

I guess the people posting would suggest that we just knock a hole in the concrete above Springs Creek and let the people just use it as their toilet. The bathrooms will be a feature that everyone that uses the trail and the bathrooms will see, why do them badly? In the past Springdale has not worried about quality of life issues. If we want to make our city somewhere that people want to spend time and money you want them the think we appreciate quality of life issues.

Why not? Bentonville has Crystal Bridges; Springdale has the Royal Flush - the Golden Throne - the Super Pooper.

Who can say this restroom will not become a world class destination? Spend an extra million to hang a couple of Warhol's in there and Springdale will be on the map.
