Judge closes hearing for Ozark boy

Posted: January 17, 2012 at 2:23 p.m.

Circuit Judge William Pearson barred reporters and others from his courtroom for a 2 p.m. Tuesday hearing for a 15-year-old Ozark boy accused of fatally shooting his 16-year-old sister on Sunday morning.

Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney David Gibbons said earlier Tuesday that he planned to pursue an adult charge against the boy in the shooting.

Juvenile court proceedings sometimes are kept private.

The boy was arrested Sunday morning after he drove to the Franklin County sheriff’s office in Ozark and told a dispatcher he shot his sister to death. He didn’t say why he shot her, Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen said Monday.
