Area home prices up

Northwest Arkansas real estate agents are attempting to get more out their home sales, according to MountData, a firm that tracks and provides local residential real estate statistics.
The median asking price for the 3,169 homes on the market in Benton and Washington counties in December 2011 was $159,655. Sales over the previous three months had a median price of $118,000.
Asking prices for new homes remained consistent at around $222,000. There are 344 new homes listed.
Houses are averaging 89 days on the market and pulling in $71.20 per square foot.
