BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Illinois State Police say a 74-year-old Oklahoma man faces drug charges after officers seized 77 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that officers pulled Refugio Salazar over Tuesday on Interstate 55 near Troy for improper lane usage.
Police say a trooper who searched Salazar’s vehicle found three bundles of marijuana inside a stack of plywood. Police say the marijuana is worth an estimated $350,000.
Online court records show Salazar, of Tulsa, Okla., faces felony cannabis trafficking and delivery charges.
He is being held in the Madison County Jail on $250,000 bail.
