A crowd of around 300 people march west up Dickson St. Monday Jan. 17, 2011 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The march began at the Walton Arts Center parking lot and went to the Arkansas Union at the University of Arkansas.
The notion of keeping black people “in their place” was common in the South when Dorothy Johnson grew up.
