Man Accused Of Extortion Attempt

Posted: January 13, 2012 at 5:53 a.m.

Herbert Davis, left, talks during a news conference Thursday about how he tried to free himself after being tied up in his home with his wife, Betty Davis, at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Fayetteville. Betty Davis was forced to try to cash a check while what she was told was a bomb was attached to her leg Monday. The conference announced the arrest of Paul Bradley in connection with the case.

Casual conversations at a diner were the connection that led an Elkins man to pick an elderly Washington County couple as a target for an extortion attempt, investigators said Thursday.
