Eureka Springs innkeeper cited in arson of rival lodge

The arrest of a Eureka Springs motel owner in connection with the arson of a competitor’s motel has uncovered what authorities said is a multistate theft ring involving hundreds of thousands of dollars of stolen property ranging from an 18-foot-tall elk statue to a red Corvette.

Fire Damages Two Apartments

Springdale firefighters work an apartment complex fire Thursday on Kay Sue Drive in Springdale. Police officers who first arrived on the scene tried to access to the top level to evacuate residents, but heavy smoke forced them back. As of press time, no injuries had been reported.
