The Springdale City Council is setting a hearing date on pulling the business license for the Sunrise Inn at the southeast corner of Robinson Avenue and Thompson Street. The motel has received numerous complaints about code violations, health dangers and illegal activities in the motel.

The City Council closed the Sunrise Inn on Tuesday. The business at 2001 S. Thompson St. was called a nuisance, because of unclean and unsafe conditions. The motel was inspected by a group that represented the city police, fire and inspection departments, the city attorney’s office and the Washington County Health Department, said Travis Monson, with the police department.

stay a night in this place and you will change you tune. I was at the council meeting last night, and I also would like to know why it has taken so lomg for this to come to the council before anything was done. Mr, Bruns expressed dissapointment with the building inspection department head Mike Chamlee. This thing has been going on for 5 years. The building department, fire department, the police department, the city attorney office and the state health department are all involved over those 5 years and nothing had been done. What a waste of time and tax money. Harper in essence let them off the hook, he said the occupants would be given time to move out. Does Harper not understand unsafe is unsafe, 5 years is enough. To let them to continue to live there accomplishes nothing, basically he over ruled the council. He must be trying to gain votes for when he runs for judge. This place should be torn down, the adjoining business are being damaged by it's conditions. What else has Chamlee overlooked, ignored or isn't aware of. It seems to me he doesn't know or care about his job. Thw council and the mayor needs to look into what is going on in Chamlee's department, the might be suprised. I understand there is a real go getter in that department who is a master code official, give him a shot at this job and see if does a better job. It is clear Chamlee hasn't done a good job.

cdawg don't shoot your mouth off before you know what you are talking about. I dare you to spend just one night in this $19.99 a night motel, I will even pay for it. Your tune will change believe me.

I agree Springdale needs a lot of work on it's city government, but a socialist Springdale I don't think so. Some businesses need to be shut down. Please keep your Newt and Romney comments to yourself
