Leah Garrett, left, and her mother Lou Sharp work on an apron in their shop, Olive Loom Boutique, Thursday in Fayetteville. Garrett and Sharp sell custom sewn products. The duo started at the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market before opening this store in April 2011.

Leah Garrett turned to a needle and thread after finding a sluggish job market after earning a master’s degree in political science a couple years ago.
