Foundation, Friends Group Help Raise Money For Library

Sadler looks up a price on a donated book Thursday at the Friendly Book Store in Rogers. The store is an all-volunteer operation that donates proceeds to the library as grants.
Without the work of a foundation and a friends organization, the Rogers Public Library wouldn’t be able to keep up with the fast-changing electronic landscape, library officials said.

Groups Differ
Foundation and friends organizations have similarities and differences.
They are similar in that both raise money for the entity they represent.
They are different in at least two ways: anyone can join a friends organization; foundations appoint or invite members.
Friends organizations generally raise smaller amounts of money to help purchase less expensive items for the entity.
A foundation raises money for an endowment and raises larger amounts of money from businesses, individuals, grants and other foundations for long-term projects.
