A crowd at the Prairie Creek ramp on Sunday is testimony to the tradition of fishing on New Year’s Day at Beaver Lake. Anglers in the Polar Bear bass tournament held Sunday take their boats from the water before weighing their fish.
Not long after the big ball drops in Times Square, fishing lures sink slowly toward the maws of prowling black bass at Beaver Lake in a New Year’s tradition that’s older than fi ne champagne.
