Local Spirit Squads Take State

The Fayetteville cheer team won the Class 7A state all-girls championship in Hot Springs on Dec. 17. It is the second year in a row the Fayetteville squad captured the state title. Squad members are captains Charlotte Banister, Macy Manning and Savannah Mercer. Other members of the team are Shelby Bensinger, Mary Margaret Corke, India Costes, Logan Dallas, Kaity Epperson, Ashley Efrid, Cassidy Gantz, Elle Johnson, Lauren Latta, Trinady Ledbetter, Daley Linn, Payton McLoud, Kelly Nefzger, Jaden Pemberton, K. K. Shadrach, Haley Smith, Maddie Snyder, Kelsie Wasiluk, Madison Watkins, Natalie Watson and Caroline Wilbourn. Coaches are Angela McCutcheon, McKenzie Walker, Stephanie Renard (trainer) and Francie Shaddox (manager).

A number of area high school spirit squads traveled to Central Arkansas to compete in the state cheerleading and dance championships in November and December.
