Northwest Arkansas Conservation Authority board members voted Thursday to fire John Sampier, executive director.
Board members recessed into an executive session at 3:15 p.m. to discuss Sampier’s use of the authority credit card. Sampier was called into the session at about 4:30 p.m.
He emerged from the closed-door meeting about five minutes later. As he was walking out the front door of the authority’s building in Highfill, he said the decision had been made to fire him.
George Spence, Bentonville's city attorney, had previously sent a memo stating that Sampier had misused an authority credit card.
