Fayetteville May Drop Fee

CONVENIENCE CHARGE HAS DRAWN IRE OF CUSTOMERS FOR YEARS

Regina Butcher, a customer service representative with Fayetteville’s Billing and Collections Division, uses a credit card machine Wednesday to process a payment for a utility customer at the city administration building. The City Council is considering dropping the 2.5 percent convenience fee normally applied to customers’ bills when using a credit card to pay.

City officials have developed a plan to stop charging unpopular “convenience fees” for residents who use credit or debit cards to pay city bills.

Might as well drop it...if the fee was instituted by Resolution as reported in this story, instead of by Ordinance, it isn't legal anyway.
